Standard Practice for Cleaning, De-Scaling, Pickling And Passivation
of Stainless Steel Parts, Equipment, Structures And Systems
This practice is applied when any surface contaminants might adversely affect the metallurgical or sanitary condition or stability of a surface, the mechanical operation of a part, component, or system, or contaminate a process fluid.
IT REMOVES SURFACE CONTAMINANTS THAT MAY IMPAIR THE NORMAL CORROSION RESISTANCE; RESULT IN THE LATER CONTAMINATION OF THE PARTICULAR STAINLESS STEEL GRADE, OR CAUSE PRODUCT CONTAMINATION.
Passivation is the process by which a stainless steel will spontaneously form a chemically inactive surface when exposed to air or other oxygen-containing environments, providing that the surface has been thoroughly cleaned or de-scaled. Passivation is removal of exogenous iron or iron compounds from the surface of a stainless steel.
Removes Following Contaminants from Stainless Steel Surface;
FREE FERRITE
OXIDE SCALE
WELDING SCALES
GAS CUTTING SCALES
PROCESSING SCALES
FABRICATION SCALES
GREASE & OIL
DIRT & SOIL PARTICLES
RUST
NONVOLATILE DEPOSITS
CARBONACEOUS OR OTHER RESIDUAL CHEMICAL FILMS
Advantages & Benefits;
EASY TO APPLY & WASH OFF; SKILLED WORKER NOT REQUIRED
FAST ACTION; SAVES VALUABLE PROCESSING TIME
ECONOMICAL; SAVES CLEANING COSTS
PASSIVATES THE SURFACE; IMPROVES CORROSION RESISTANCE
IMPARTS UNIFORM MATT FINISH; ENHANCING AESTHETICS OF THE PRODUCT
